BBBAA: SCHOOL COMMITTEE STUDENT REPRESENTATIVES
The Kittery School District recognizes the value of student voice in the governance of the school system and encourages student participation in the process through the role of Student Representatives to the School Committee. As such, the School Committee will have a Student Representative Team composed of one student serving as the vice representative, and one student serving as the student representative. The student representative will sit with the School Committee at meetings, present monthly reports on student issues and interests across the district, and have a non-binding vote on all issues before the committee. The vice representative will attend meetings regularly, assist in developing the monthly report, and serve as substitute whenever the student representative is absent.
I. Appointment Process
Beginning in September, candidates shall submit a Letter of Interest to the Principal to be reviewed by the Student Council immediately upon election. After a vetting process, Student Council will nominate students to be elected by the student body before the first Tuesday of October.

A. Full time student
B. Good academic standing
C. Exemplary school attendance
III. Requirements for Maintaining the Seat
In order to maintain the School Representative seat, the following conditions must be met.
A. Remain enrolled full time at Traip Academy
B. Maintain academic standing
C. Adhere to the same attendance policy as school committee
D. Maintain positive school citizenship
E. Successfully fulfill all responsibilities of Student Representative as outlined in BBBAA-R
IV. Filling a vacancy out of cycle
If for any reason a vacancy shall exist in the membership of the School Committee Student Representative team, the vacancy shall be filled according to the procedure in Policy BBBE.
